In my youth one of the more exciting things to do was to go to the local blockbuster and pick up some movies and a game. I love the experience. I think it was all the options combined with the expectation of fun. A trip to the Blockbuster was either consciously or subconsciously known as a precursor to fun! Well now we have Netflix and Hulu and Amazon Prime. Watching movies and shows is easy and instant. One thing that was lost when the video stores shut down was the end of game rentals. Then I found Redbox. Problem with Redbox is if it is a popular kiosk you aere almost guaranteed to get what you want. Then the price of renting a game for long enough to beat it is almost as much as it would be to buy the game. Add on the fact that anyone who has made the transition to Next Gen don even get options yet at Redbox. Which means if I want to play PS4 games I have to buy them or so I thought.
Then my cousin told me about Gamefly. He pays a little more than what I pay Netflix. He gets a game and gets to keep it as long as he wants. No matter how long he keeps it he still only pays the monthly fee. As soon as he tires of it he returns it and gets another in the mail a couple days later. As I write this I am waiting for my first game from Gamefly. It is a little under 200 a year for the cheaper plan. But considering I can't rent anywhere else that is only about three new games bought. The upside to Gamefly I can play all the major games this year and for about the price I could only play 3 if bought new.
So as I use Gamefly I will keep a page dedicated to my experience with the company. For now I am hoping the first game is home when I get off work. I will be killing some Orcs in Shadow of Mordor. If I don't like it I might return it for something else. Next month I will get Unity and play it until Dragon Age comes out. I will play at least three games till I don't want to play them any longer. Not bad for 15 bucks.
