A Memory of Light

The biggest book release for me in my life. The conclusion to the Wheel of Time series. Robert Jordan passed form this earth too soon. He will be missed. I stumbled upon his series by chance and it changed my life. When I was hitting those rough early teen years I was at a crossroads in my life. I could go any direction in life. I wasn't yet sure who I wanted to be or what I wanted to do. Video games were a very minor hobby. I was into sports, i wanted to play music. But basically i didn't know what I wanted. Then I stumbled upon Eye of The World. The first book in the series. I have been lost in fantasy worlds ever since. It has taken close to eleven years of reading and waiting. A Memory of Light was a great book. The series came to a conclusion.

Here is why I felt let down. One it was apparent that the new author that had taken over the series after Jordan's death had a huge amount of creative control over this book. Even though Sanderson is a good writer and I like his books he does not write in the same style that Jordan does. I grew up on Jordan's style its what made me fall in love with literature. So Reading for eleven years a certain style for this series it felt all wrong to be in a new style.

Another reason is its over. It is such a great world that Jordan created. I would rather see the individual story arc come to a end and another rise and for the world to continue and to read new adventures within this world for decades. To know that that's it nothing is to come is so sad.

The ending! I will not give anything away, but lets say the ending was storybook and predictable and left me feeling like that's exactly how i envisioned it so it took no creativeness to create that ending.

Overall the book was still very enjoyable. It read well and made me feel emotions. If you are not familiar with the series and your into fantasy writing then the series has to be on top of your to read list.

Elder Scrolls Online!

Lately I have been playing ESO on PS4. I have to say it has been a great experience. It is every bit as good as past Elder Scrolls games. So well written and beautifully crafted. The quests are full of story and life and lead you expertly across the land. The many different stories are not only written well but voice acted amazingly. Best voice acting in a open world RPG I have every played. I am having a ton of fun.     I even stuck my feet into the PVP. Even helped take a keep. But for the most part since I didn't have a group to run with and I didn't have a mount yet I found PVP to not be as rewarding as questing. I will try again though this time with a mount  and some friends if i can find a good pvp guild.     I also the other night did my first dungeon. I am a sorcerer and flip between destruction staff and restoration staff skills. So I was the healer for the dungeon. For sure not as easy to heal as any other MMO. Directional AOE h...

It is ok to hate a Game!

These days ever game franchise and developer and publisher have their faults. Some have many. EA has a lot and Bioware has really squandered some good opportunities like SWTOR. Their are a lot of things about Bioware game that a lot of people don't like. It looks like EA is going to do everything it can to continue its aggressive DLC policy.       With all that said it is important to look past all the BS. Look at what is put on the shelf and ask yourself is this game worth the price. Will I enjoy this and will it make me happy. Even with all the things I don't like about this game or this company will I still enjoy this? Don't listen to the hype or the haters. Just ask yourself what your opinion is on this game.      For me at this point Bioware games (including SWTOR) have hit every sweet spot in what I am looking for. I know without even looking at ...

Game Reviews!?! Worth reading?

It should be pretty apparent at this point that by and large Mass Media Reviewers/Critics have huge problems. The problems are varied. They are paid to lie, they have a vendetta going into their review, they feel they can drive more traffic to their review if they nitpick the negatives and probably the biggest but least talked about is the reviewer either hates or doesn't understand the genre he is reviewing.                  Big Triple A official or professional reviews cannot be trusted. To often it becomes apparent that the reviewer is basically blowing smoke at us for the sake of keeping friendly with the games publishing company. Sometimes they are just outright paid for fluff pieces (allegedly). If the reviewer is mid to low range in popularity he/she is probably not going to bite the hand that feeds them. EA and other companies have shown thy will blacklist certain reviewers from review c...
